Boot into Console instead of KDE Desktop

Hello

I am brandnew to Linux and Netrunner. I want to installed the latest NVIDIA drivers for my card. I can run the script but it then comes up with you are running X server I think. Please close that down and re-start it.

I read somewhere else that boot right into console mode before loading up the desktop.

How do I go about this. I have been stuck for a few days on it.

Before you install the latest nvidia driver from nvidias site make sure to have the linux-headers package installed for your current kernel.
To install the latest driver manually you have to close X-Server.
Todo this you can switch from a running system to a tty (konsole) with CTRL+ALT+F1 .
Login here (note: passwords are hidden so no stars appear)
To stop the X-Server execute

sudo service lightdm stop

Then execute the nvidia-installer script like usually.

Thank you so much for that I will give it a go later and let you know how i get on.

Should the headers package already be installed.
