Just installed Netrunner rolling. After up dating Kmail-Kontact after re boot freezes solid immediatly at tip of the daywhether opened by icon click, Konsole, or search > .System monitor shows a mix of systen D and kdeinit5 ?(Thought it was one or the other?) No unusural memory patterns that I can see?

Process 1023 - akonadi_control

Summary

The process akonadi_control (with pid 1023) is using approximately 2.5 MB of memory.
It is using 2.2 MB privately, and a further 10.2 MB that is, or could be, shared with other programs.
Dividing up the shared memory between all the processes sharing that memory we get a reduced shared memory usage of 247.0 KB. Adding that to the private usage, we get the above mentioned total memory footprint of 2.5 MB.

Thanks for any helphttp://forums.netrunner.com/images/smilies/undecided.gif

Systemd is the base system init, kdeinit5 is the Plasma 5 user space init.
Try loging out of Plasma and deleting ~./config/akonadi and ~./local/share/akonadi from a VT (ctrl+alt+f2) and reboot.

Before removing ~/.local/share/akonadi please create a backup as it contains all mails downloaded already.
Otherwise maybe restarting akonadi can work aswell.
