OK, I am getting what you described on my older laptop, this has to be hardware related.
When using OpenGL 2 + EGL iget the same results as when i turn compositing off. Only the decoration doesn’t appear…
When I say hardware related, what I mean by that is the capabilities and compatibility of both the chip-set and it’s related drivers. Unless your hardware Intel only (like mine), you could try booting with non-free option (proprietary drivers) as well.
