Thanks.
I just tried all of that and still no gui boot. Any other ideas? I suppose I could download the ISO and reinstall.

This shouldn’t be it unless you forced the update when there was a file conflict earlier, before we fixed the package:
sudo cp /etc/sddm.conf.pacnew /etc/sddm.conf
That cp didn’t help. Yes, I think I did force it. The update finished with an error, but I had the option of hitting “update” again - so I did.
I didn’t think it would, but it was worth a shot.
I’m testing a few things now and also checking the Manjaro forums for the same issue.
Some help checking the Manajro forums would be nice.
Or even a new post of the issue there.
Did you use discover (update from the system tray) for this update?
Try this as root:
pacman -Qqen > pkglist.txt
pacman --force -S $(< pkglist.txt)
this will re-install all packages that are curently installed to your system.
It may take some time to complete, or you could back up and re-install.
I’m still looking into what could have caused this issue.
I had to run out. I´ll try that in about an hour.
Clyde: simply try this:
sudo pacman -S sddm
That should reinstall it, so simply hit ‘Y’.
Then see if sddm comes up again after reboot.
starbuck’s suggestion worked!!! I didn’t try AJSlye’s but it may have too. Anyway, I’m back to my GUI. Really the support on this forum is the very best! I’ve tried a lot of distros that have been very good. I like Netrunner Rolling the best on it’s own, but on top of that the forum support is better than any I’ve seen. I need to donate more.
