Hello just wanted to post this and see if anyone else is having this issue…
Sometimes just out of the blue when I start up Netrunner the nice transparent panel at the bottom is gone
and has been replaced by a solid black and gray panel much like a win Vista kinda looking bar…
If I restart the proper panel normally loads up…
Any ideas to why this is going on?

Any special gfx drivers?
12.12.1 And ive got a 9800GT with the current drivers installed via apt-get and not the
ones selected from the extras menu…
Also im running the 64 bit version if that helps :)…
Its a random bug… Most the time when it starts up its the transparent theme that came with it…
But every now and then it has a solid panel bar that looks just like the one on windows vista…
I was thinking maybe the OS was starting up too soon before the driver was fully running and forcing
a non transparent theme to run because lack of driver running…
I have tested and the OS runs fine when this happens , Also 3d games and apps run fine as well so
im sure the driver has started up …
I tried to install Kubuntu and failed … So its posible this computer im on might have something strange
wrong with it …
Im currently on my backup machine because im doing updates to my main machine …
I should have my main machine fully back up and running in a couple weeks or so…
Im hoping the new Netrunner 13 will be released by then so I can install that …
If I install that and everything is good ill be sure and post in here…
I just figured id post and see if anyone else was having the issue as its very random…
Anyway I love the OS and ive used Linux for many years now and was a hard core Gnome user…
After all the changes and then Ubuntu going Unity I was watching Youtube vids and found a video
showing this OS. I figured id try it and many others as well…
Netrunner caught my eye the most of all of them and after setting up Homerun its cake to use …
I really like it…
I just hope you dont ever dump that transparent theme . Its great
Also all of the options and repository GUIs included are a great feature for people like me…
I love to install and try all sorts of apps…
I have installed apps from Synaptic , Jack & Joe and Muon and have found lots of great stuff.
I was never much of a KDE fan but this sure really has my attention and I use this ever day now…
Cant wait to get the new version .

have you tried changing the System Settings - Desktop Effects - Advanced - Qt Graphic System and change it to “Raster”? There are some options that might work better, since the solid panel is due to transparency/blur issues I guess.
Ok not sure what that means but I set it to that …
Its funny but when I started up yet again it did the solid vista looking
panel …
I have set the setting to what you recomended and restarted … Its back
to the nice transparent panel again…
Hopefully it stays that way…
Not sure why it would be a problem with transparency because I use homerun
and its a full screen launcher with transparent background to the desktop…
Lots of things on my desktop are transparent too…
Oh well you gotta love strange bugs…
If things worked flawless I guess you would be out of a job :)…
Ill keep en eye on this and see if this fixes it …

Ok I started up just now and the solid panel bar is back :(…
I messed with some of those settings and didnt seem to change anything visually
other then when I change to Raster my apps icons are gone from the top left of the
window they are running in…
Soon as I change it back to Native the icon is back lol…
Ill post and see what happens with 13 when its released…
