[Update] 2015-05-08

Manjaro 0.8.12 update-pack 8 now online:

This update took longer to sort out almost all issues with kde-apps 15.04.0, also with the introduction of kernel 4.0 a new initramfs/vmlinuz format had to be adopted, All kernels have also been rebuilt MMC support added. The Calligra and all LibreOffice packages were updated as well as the final release of Octopi 0.7.

Here are some new features and fixes added to Octopi 0.7:
• Major speed fix, which means faster package list building and faster package filtering
  • Re enabled Pacaur support
  • Setup dialog added to notifier! It’s now possible to “set interval” for package checking
  • New AUR tool button located at toolbar! That means there’s no more fake “Yaourt” or “Pacaur” package groups
  • New tool added: “SysInfo”! Now users can gist their system info to the internet (“gist” package is needed)
  • Package list column sizes are now saved
  • No more horizontal scroll bar in AUR mode
As well as all regular Arch Linux upstream fixes and updates as of May 2, 2015.

You can perform this update as usual using octopi or from the command line:

sudo pacman -Syyu

Notes:
1. With the update to kde-apps 15.04.0, more frameworks ports were included, most notably would be the new KDE telepathy stack. https://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-applications-15.04.0.php
  2. A reboot is required due to the rebuilding of all kernel series and the initramfs/vmlinuz format change mentioned above.
Tho starting to Hmm and Haw musing and thinking about going to Plasma 5.

Oops, my bad. It was supposed to be 2015-05-08, I will correct it now.
Thank you Orbmiser.

Okey Dokey thought that might be it.
.

Update went good:

  • Had to hit Y for a lot of questions
  • I noticed these 2 things, but they don’t seem to impact anything:

error: could not open file /var/lib/pacman/local/clutter-gst2-2.0.14-1/desc: No such file or directory warning: /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc installed as /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc.pacnew

  • On the plus side, octopi (as user) works again
    Cheers

I’m don’t know what program you have installed that’s using clutter, but that first error just means that it is not installed.

Anytime pacman makes a pacnew, pacsave or pacorig file during an update it will notify you. Pacman will not overwrite configuration files that have changed since the previous installation of a package. It’s always a good idea to take a look at these and compare them to your working files just in case you need to merge something back in that was needed, or to make the necessary adjustment in case some setting was depreciated, changed it’s syntax, moved to a different config file, etc.
