This is a repost from last update and wondering if I will have to continue this for every update?
Tried searching google and manjaro forums on the issue and doesn’t seem to be a common problem?
Can’t find this issue thread anywhere having to do with Plasma 5 and auto-mounting usb external drives.

baloo4 shouldn’t still be on your system if you updated to Plasma 5, if your still running KDE SC 4 then you’ll need to stick with the baloo4 package, otherwise update from baloo4 to baloo before running the full update.

Every update will overwrite that change.
Try putting this in your home directory instead of editing the actual system file.
Just copy /usr/share/kde4/services/kded/device_automounter.desktop to ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services/kded/device/device_automounter.desktop and edit it there. You may need to create the kded and device directories yourself.

Thanks…How can I update from baloo4 to baloo?

sudo pacman -Rdd baloo4 sudo pacman -S baloo

Thanks was able to make the change and ran update again then I got this;;;

:: baloo: requires kfilemetadata

sudo pacman -S kfilemetadata

Friend I am starting to get embarrased

:: poppler-qt4: requires poppler=0.28.1

OK, poppler, poppler-qt4 and poppler-qt5 are at version 0.33. Are you sure you used the second y is your pacman line?

If so, then try re-syncing your mirrors first:

sudo pacman-mirrors -g sudo pacman -Syyu

Its giving me the same errors

Are you hitting “y” (yes) for all of the replace prompts that come up?
If not then you really need to.

Heres a copy of what I did I hope you can spot something.

I see the issue, your supposed to have both kfilemetadata and kfilemetadata4 installed, one is not supposed to replace or conflict with the other.

sudo pacman -Syy kfilemetadata kfilemetadata4 sudo pacman -Su

Are you running Plasma 5 or KDE SC 4?
Also you need to disable the blueshell repository and remove some of it’s packages before updating.
Look here: http://forums.netrunner.com/showthread.php?tid=17358
And Here: http://forums.netrunner.com/showthread.php?tid=17613

I have KDE Platform Version 4.14.3
Ill check out those links thanks.

Then you need to keep all the ones that end with a 4 (baloo4) and the versions that say kde at the begining (kdebase-xxx, kdegraphics-xxx, etc.)

First, make sure you disable or move to the bottom of the list the blueshell repository, otherwise you will have issues updating.

Optionally, you could try out the latest pre2 ISO that uses Plasma 5 to test. However, I would recommend waiting for the final release before installing it the the hard drive. These new ISO’s are made using the official Manjaro tool set and methodology. What this means to the end user (you), is that even though the artwork and default applications can and most likely will be changed or added on the ISO’s and in future updates, the configuration changes are currently done using skel and not via a package. this means that any configuration changes you make to your system after it is installed should never be overwritten and changed by an update.
