i tried netrunner and found it quite enjoyable. then i had a issue with the os locking
up. that was on a i7. i have switched to a i5 processor, do you think it will work?

An I5, and an I7, are both intel’s, they would work exactly the same.
However, since you gave very little information in your post, there is noway to provide you with any help at this time.
If you could provide your systems specs, a more detailed description of the problem, as well as some systemd diagnostic outputs, that would go a long way in diagnosing and fixing your locking up issue.
