Running Netrunner 14.2 (Linux 3.13.0-66-generic) 32-bit. Used Synaptic to install Chrome browser.
When I enter Tools->Extensions->Chrome Web Store, after 6 seconds my screen goes black and I lose the cursor. Tried Alt-F2 and lots more, but nothing responds; yet, I see occasional disk activity and the wireless tower blinks from DSL stimulus.
This is fully repeatable. Chrome seems OK until I enter its web store, though I haven’t fully exercised it - wanted an ad blocker first, but couldn’t get to it. What could it be?
Maybe it’s crashing because of the hardware acceleration of chromium misbehaving.
Can you confirm this crash on other sites aswell?
Can you check the chrome://gpu adress to see if it even uses hardware acceleration from your gpu.
You can also toggle it on or off in chrome://flags
I enabled the Web GL disable flag to prevent apps from accessing the Web GL API, but not because I understood its impact. Will try again and edit this reply if possible.
Results of the flag change:
For some reason I saw the extension shop page open for about 1 sec. before it crashed. Had it worked it would have been PFDL!
