Boot loop after fresh install

Hi there,

after booting into the live session and installing the system i rebooted my laptop…
And now it just loads the bios screen (lenovo blabla) and reboots, and reboots…

My system:

Lenovo idea pad s205 with the AMD E450 APU and 4gb ram…
It’s a dual boot with win7…

The installation process itself runs fine…

Hi lexx541,

do you see GRUB screen?
Do you see Plymouth screen when Netrunner 15 is booting up?
Any other messages?

Nope…
Just the Lenovo sign and reboot…

UEFI enabled ? Or did you install in BIOS compatibility ?

The BIOS/Uefi on this thig
is crappy…
Fedora thinks it is uefi… Manjaro, too…
Elementary OS BIOS…
Ubuntu 14.04 normal BIOS…
But 14.10 and now Netrunner 15 locate a uefi…
I can’t switch between uefi or BIOS. The HDD is normal MS dos with mbr

That might explain the problem you are experiencing. Not being able to switch between UEFI and BIOS is a bummer. If it detects UEFI but you only have an HDD with msdos scheme and mbr it will fail naturally.
I am not sure if there is any solution to it as long as you can’t force bios compatibilityMode

Hm…
Thanks anyway

I know the page I’m about to link to is from the Arch Wiki, however it does have some interesting information.

It seems this laptop automatically switches between UEFI or Bios mode depending on the hard drives layout. It also has a buggy bios so loading system defaults when in Bios mode is recommended. This Laptop also does not come with secure boot.

Here is a video of the Lenovo Ideapad S205 running Ubuntu 11.04 with Unity so I know it’s possible.
