Unfortunately Arch Linux is both Manjaro and thus Netrunner Rollings parent distribution, Antergoes is just Arch proper with an added repository and Installer. KaOS is NOT based on arch at all, they build every single package in their repositories themselves, and use their own config files and base system, etc. this means that they do things their own way.
Hopefully Arch will eventually find a better way of loading the Intel microcode early soon. Keep in mind also that by default Debian and Ubuntu do not even load the microcodes for Intel, AMD, etc. unless the end user decides to add it themselves, under Ubuntu and Mint derivatives it’s usually listed in their Proprietary driver applications along with the Nvidia, ATI and Broadcom-wl drivers.
Maybe we can convince the Manjaro developers to take the same approach using MHWD and MHWD-GUI for the microcode loading, leaving it up to the end user to add or not.
thanks for understanding my point of view here. On Antegros I’ve removed intel-ucode and I don’t notice any drawbacks. So I’ll do same on Manjaro and Netrunner to get a normal behavior of grub integration. Do you know, what this piece of software do? It does not seem to be necessary for smooth working. My Intel core i5 works, my Intel HD 4600 works, sounchip of intel works without any issues (oklay, intel soundchip on mainboard does not give such clean output as my external USB Aureon 7.1 does).
Another question: How can I help to solve kf5 bugs? I’ve read that netrunner developers work together with kde developers, so I mention it also here. There is an annoying bug since new plasma version 5.3. When trying to modifiy special window settings of an application (right mouseclick on windowbar, left mouseclick on further actions, left mouseclick on special settings of this program) you get a crash of kinit5. This kwin bug is already reported, I’ve contacted Martin Gräßlin because of this bug and he has answered that he need further detailed feedback. Unfortunately there is no workarround.
Yes, That is what I posted about in another thread, you have to go into More Actions > Window Manager Settings at the moment to edit those settings. I know this is not convenient but that’s the only way to get to them right now.
your tip works but refers to settings of all programs. I need configuration for a special application window. I start remote turboprint-monitor when entering new kf5 session. It is a script with
I always install my printer(s) by using the Cups Web Interface but I can’t do that. In fact, I can’t install my printer(s) at all because I’ve discovered that cups isn’t running. To enable cups, I had to do this …
Yes, but i did forget to add system-config-printer to the ISO for cups to auto-detect attached printer, I’m not sure why this functionality is in that particular package, but it seems to be this way with all distributions.
