I upgraded my Dell Mini 9 from the original 8 GB SSD to a 32 GB one. Booting a live session from a USB works fine. However, when trying to install, I get stopped on the second page, with the warning that the Mini doesn’t have at least 8.3 GB of disk space.
Using mount, fdisk -l, the My Computer shortcut, KDE Partition Manager, and file browsing through /dev all fail to show the SSD. My live USB stick is returned as /dev/sda, and there is no /dev/sdb, dev/sdc, etc.
I double checked that the SSD was physically installed correctly, and it appears to be–the notch in the SSDs pins is lined up with bracket on the mobo, and the other end of the SSD is screwed down correctly.
Hmm… in this case it would be helpful if you could confirm that the ssd is recognized within the bios. If not then you know whats wrong there. Otherwise please paste the output of the lspci terminal command.
Turns out the new SSD is defective. RunCore packed a disk cloning enclosure, from which the old SSD can be recognized by the live session, but the new one can’t. Thanks for your help.
