Hope this will help.
I tryed to update via Synaptic, and got this error message:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the list directory
The synaptic error looks like another packagemanagement process is blocking it.
You cannot ping netrunner-os.com but you can browse websites? This looks very odd to me.
If I ping the url name it doesn’t work. but when I ping your IP, its ok.
So, I looked into the task manager to try to guess which process could be bloking Synaptic, but unfortunately the info there is too cryptic for me to understand it.
I’d like to add that I multiboot 5 more Distros and I never had a single problem with my internet connection.
My only guess so far is checking the nameserver.(so check /etc/resolv.conf and maybe set the correct one there [you need sudo rights for this]) But when netrunner-os.com is working in your browser and not with ping then I really don’t know whats wrong there. Are you using a proxy or are you sitting behind a firewall which blocks pings ?

I can connect to the internet - I am using it now - sudo apt-get upgrade states
sudo apt-get upgrade

A also had several problems with the “waiting for other transactions to finish”. Kiling the “qaptworker script” never worked. Only a reboot. Someone started a thread about that.
So, I multiboot 5 distros, I use to install every new release of two of them and then I distro hoppe every 6/12 months, to stay on the bleeding edge. So far I coulnd’t find a single Kde relese who suits me. Netrunner was going to be the first. So, I really feel sorry.
Sorry to hear that opsnet
quick question when you rebuilt netrunner… Did you format all partitions that you were gonna use? because I know that some residual stuff hangs around in /home. I am still too new to know if this would effect it but it seems too.
Any ways - good luck distro hopping… I enjoyed that too but I am gonna settle now on Netrunner… It’s just so good
Yes, I allways format partitions before installing a new distro. I have an excelent way to deal with a unique /Home common to all distros, but it is completelly independent from each one one of them. I may post how to do it in here if I find it feet somewhere in the Forum.
Regarding Netrunner your’re right. Its just so good. An outstanding Kde implementation with good performance and excelent design. Enjoy it.
As I’ve finished my distro hopping (there’s nothing else of interest to try), I’ll keep the netrunner install for some and will have a look in the forum, just in case…
