Yes, looked there first. That’s where learned about pinning, but it didn’t mention a few things.
Package: claws-mail
Pin: release a=stretch-backports
Pin-Priority: 900
specifically am asking about the nature of the syntax to use for Netrunner and what each part of the pinning means. for example:

These two parts and how they relate to the pinning process. Are they options? Are they distro specific naming? What decides that they will look this way? What is backports? Is this the same format for the syntax for Netrunner 23? Have seen in a couple videos that on ubuntu the pinning looks different under the:
