Plymouth shutdown issue

Okay issue shutting down/restarting on Netrunner Rolling 15.11, if I click the shut down it will act like the system is shutting down but instead take me to the login screen.
Same thing happens if I click restart as well

Also I get a segfualt for kdeinit

Not enough information.
What are your system specs.
What, if any, applications have you added or removed from the system?
Did you keep your previous installations home directory?
Have you edited any config files in your home directory?
When you get the segfualt for kdeinit, what are you or the system doing at the time this happens.

I added the following apps: Google chrome, Clementine, SMPlayer and removed none

This is from a fresh install

No

Just in general shutting down, I am not running any apps, I make sure things are closed down, I am not doing anything else with the exception of shutting down

The segfualt for kdeinit might another sna / mesa bug again.
As far as the shutdown / reboot bringing back up SDDM issue, I’m not sure what could be causing this one.
Does plymouth appear on shutdown or does it go straight to SDDM?
If plymouth does appear, could you hit esc to see if anything there gives a clue to what’s going on?
Is there anything in your .xsession-errors file that might help?

PS. I wonder if the issue has anything to do with the combination of btrfs for / and xfs for /home as your file systems?
This might take some research of these file systems support under Arch/Manjaro.

It could be the filesystems, I could try EXT4 but may do the reinstall tomorrow, luckily I didnt do too much

The layout is residue from my openSUSE install, kept the filesystem types but not the data within

I never had btrfs on this laptop, have only ext4, then too kdeinit crash window appears frequently.

@Jag59

Could you provide your system specs:

inxi -F

Also which ISO release did you use, and did you perform a system update?
Please use the following command to be sure all packages have been updated:

sudo pacman -Syyu

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Presently I am unable to login into my netrunner-rolling installation. After giving password, a black screen appears, mouse pointer can move but no right click.

This I am writing through my main OS - netrunner 14.2 on the same machine. I am not much experienced Linux user. So if you inform me some netrunner 14.x specific commends, I shall certainly be happy in submitting the output and help the community a little in diagnosing it.
At the present I can at the most say that it is a Dell Vastro 1550 laptop purchased in Aug 2012, with Intel Core i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30 GHz, 4GB DDR3 ram and on-board Intell graphics.

Also which ISO release did you use, and did you perform a system update?

It is a fresh install of date 2015-11-19 from 2 GiB iso downloaded with ‘netrunner-rolling-2015.11-64bit.iso.torrent’.
The md5 sum was OK.
The system was fully updated on 23-11-2015 by applying @ 527 MiB of updates.

Now I could boot in netrunner-rolling and providing the info.

As mentioned in earlier post, it is a fresh install of date 2015-11-19 from 2 GiB iso torrent downloaded of ‘netrunner-rolling-2015.11-64bit.iso’. 30 GiB sda2 was formated as ext4 and installed without separate home partition.

Are you still not getting a desktop, or did that get straightened out?

I too am now getting the kdeinit crash again after the update to plasma 5.4.3 as well, I’m still investigating this issue. I’m hoping it’s not another Intel, Mesa, SNA issue again. I haven’t been home long enough over the last week or so due to personal reasons to test this yet. I’m planning on testing this later tonight or early tomorrow morning once I get home for good and get a nap.

Could you do me a favor and try the fn + F5 controls of your laptop keyboard and see what happens. This was just a thought I’m having since mine doesn’t always return to normal after power management turns the back light off and I have to do this.

On 26-11-2015, I was unable to get the desktop after logging in. ‘ctrl+alt+del’ did not work and restarting twice also did not solve the problem. But yesterday, on 27-11, I was able to log in successfully without doing anything. Today also it is OK except the usual problem of switching of the primary screen , but generally re-login fixes it.

Normally it increases brightness and displays icon with level bar.
If power management makes the screen off, after mouse motion, it is on again and Fn+F5 works as ususl. But in PM I have set- When on AC power> button event handling> when laptop lid closed> turn off screen. So when I close the laptop lid and open it again, crash window appears stating ‘sorry, plasma closed unexpectedly’. Thereafter noting operates properly till I re-login.

Hope this is what you expected.

Sorry, I am not good at English.

Yes and no, I was just wondering if it might have been a back light issue you were having with the black screen, that’s all.

Every laptop is different, on my system I don’t get the crash, but I do have to use fn+F3 on my hp to get the back light back up after the screen is turned off by power management. However, letting the system dim the screen it’s fine and comes back up bright after I move the mouse.
