ProjectM crashes

Hi,

on my netrunner blackbird 19.01 I have a problem with projectM-pulseaudio. After some seconds the program crashes with the following message:

Any ideas?

It looks like it could be a bug in libc6. See: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1652495

How can one reproduce the issue. So can you tell us what to do to test this?

Thanks for your answer.

Music is running(VLC or chromium or radiotray python-xdg . The kind of app doesn’t matter. Then I start projectM for visualizing the music. ProjectM starts normal, but after ca. 1 min. it crashes … (output in terminal see last posting).

HTH to solve the problem!

Ciao!

Dieter

Yes I can reproduce the issue. Bug report sent to Debian. Should appear here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=projectm-pulseaudio;dist=unstable

edit: Bug reported now here: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=924925

Hi,

meanwhile I read in debian.org

Upstream contains a patch to remove that warning [2].

A package built with this patch applied is not
crashing anymore (at least in my limited test).

Kind regards,
Bernhard

What does this mean? Where can one get this new package?

Ciao!

Dieter

You need to wait until its ready in Debian. For now it got tested locally I assume and the patch prepared for Debian building. It will first land in Debian Unstable and later on in Testing.

Hello,
i know you are not doing the tests, but maybe you know when I can count for the fix. I’m still waiting for the moment when I can use ProjectM again.

Ciao!

Dieter

No new news on this. You can see the status of that package here: https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/projectm
