System Updates

Hi, just wondering if there’s any reason why the latest updates to come through on my Netrunner 14 (64 bit) system don’t have everything selected by default. I’ve been using Netrunner 14 since it was released and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before - all the updates normally have ticks in the boxes by default. Is there any particular reason I should NOT be installing the updates which aren’t already selected?

Only updates are ticked that don’t remove packages by default.
So I suggest first only updating those packages that are ticked and later after this finished trying the update again and see if they are still unticked which packages are marked for removal after you tick one or all of them.

Ran the first lot of updates. Some packages were marked for removal but thinking it would probably not break the system I accepted (probably stupid of me). I now have the same problem as in the other thread, “System Upadate Problems” so I guess I’ll post there.

This needs further testing to see what is causing this.
Do you have any ppas activated despite the default ones?

Anyone experiencing problems on the updates from 14.0 to 14.1 should try this in a terminal

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install netrunner-apt-config && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Sorry, I didn’t notice your question earlier. I don’t know if you still need this but here are my current PPAs. Obviously the backports one wasn’t activated until I updated netrunner-apt-config

Got the following error:

Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/baloo-utils_4%3a4.14.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

when running:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install netrunner-apt-config && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

as directed below.

Any more specfic error ? Is it trying to overwrite some file and can’t ? (You may need to scroll up a little bit to locate the error of this package)
