Smooth update:)
The agenda function of the calendar widget is not working for me though, it says no events for today. I would like to display my google calendar events here. I found another widget (event calendar) which is working, but i wanted to try the official solution.

I found the reason on g+ : “You have to wait for the next Kontact release that will support it (yes it’s in Plasma announcement but the backend by Kontact isn’t yet there)”

Mostly smooth update, the weird look was solved fairly easily.

The only issue is that some icons don’t display in the Kicker menu; things like TortoiseHg, GitKraken seem to use the default no-icon icon in the menu, but the icon is perfectly fine in the task manager and window decoration. The issue seems to be limited to Hicolor icons. Did QT 5.7 break something in Kicker?

EDIT: It seems qt5ct is in charge of icons and fonts in a lot of programs now (as far as I can tell, it’s almost everything, really), so a lot of settings simply don’t respect the ones set up in the normal settings, and have to be set up in qt5ct directly.

EDIT 2: After playing around with qt5ct, I’m going to recommend using the Breeze appearance style. It looks more correct, and the gtk2 look essentially breaks the Breeze theme on pretty much all KDE applications. GTK applications still seem to be controlled by KDE Plasma, so the need seems to be fixing the KDE side of things.

EDIT 3: And I’m also getting the wrong icons in Dolphin in one of my systems. It’s using the monochrome smaller icons for lots of things, while some icons remain correct (e.g. the folder icon uses the monochrome, but the Downloads folder uses the correct icon).
