I need a program to capture mpg in real time to convert old VHS tapes to DVD. libav seems to be exaclty what I need and it says its already installed on my computer. But where is it and how do I open it?
Libav is a command line tool which can be executed via the terminal by typing in libav
. It needs parameters for input and output aswell as encoding options for audio and video if you want to convert something. You can open a manual by typing in man libav
(use arrow keys to navigate and q to quit)
If you try to record something from a tv card (analog input) I guess libav won’t work good for you. You can try VLC or me-tv for this. Both applications provide an easy to use graphical user interface.
