Why am I using 4.5 and still have Catalyst??

Shouldn’t I have access to AMDGPU or something?

Also when I try to just use radeon I get a black screen and no TTY access after rebooting. I have a 370.

MHWD should support the amdgpu driver since February.
Look in System Settings > Hardware Detection or Manjaro Settings Manger > Hardware Detection, these are the same utility, to see what drivers are available for your GPU and Kernel revision.

Note: You might try searching the Manjaro forums if the AMDGPU driver is not listed in MHWD as compatable on your system.

mhwd -l

I have done that but I still have catalyst and radeon only. Even the CLI utility only brings up whats in the GUI.

Edit: This is what I get.

[adomas@streamer chromium-pepper-flash]$ mhwd -l

oops, I needed available not installed:

mhwd -la

Shouldn’t it be

mhwd -la

As capital L gives error?

@Orbmiser
Thanks, I fixed the typo in my previous post.

@ Aremis
The amdgpu driver does not support all sea island based cards yet:

Let’s also see what is supported by mhwd for your chip::

mhwd -l

I have onboard graphics on my mobo turned off. Its an Asus M4A88T-M. Could that be an issue?

I feel like I’m just screwed .-.

Looks like your card (Curacao XT / Trinidad XT aka Sea Island series) is not yet supported by mhwd.
You could try installing the amdgpu drivers manually to see if they work.

sudo mhwd -i pci video-amdgpu

If they do then please report the cards id to Manjaro for inclusion in the mhwd database.

Will it automatically purge the old files? If it doesn’t work will be able to fix it?

It should, but you can always remove catalyst first with:

sudo mhwd -r pci video-catalyst

And if it doesn’t work will it drop to TTY?
slash will I be able to?

I’d hope so, I don’t have any AMD/ATI based systems so I couldn’t say for sure.
If catalyst is working for you then I’d stick with it for now.
