Why so many Kernels

Why so many kernels installed? Only need one.

Netrunner 14 should only have one kernel series installed or available.
How many do you have?

If your talking about Netrunner Rolling (Manjaro) then you posted in the wrong sub-forum.
However, I’ll try to answer your question anyway.

Netrunner Rolling (Manjaro) only installs one kernel by default from the ISO, but Manjaro does offer more than one kernel series in their repositories for better hardware support. Some systems just work better under one kernel series than another, here are a few on my personal examples:

My old P4 based Thinkpad works great with the 3.10, 3.12, 3.14 and 3.17 series of kernels, but the 3.13, 3.15, 3.16 and 3.19 series all have at least one issues or more on each of them.

My Desktop seems to run great no matter what kernel series I install on it, however since this is my production (daily use) system I prefer to use only a LTS (long term support) kernel here for the obvious reasons.

My wifes laptop seems to have best results with the 3.18 kernel series.

I hope this shed some light on why so many kernel series are made available in the Manjaro repositories.

PS. On all of my machines I like to keep at least one LTS kernel installed as a backup just in case something goes wrong with a kernel update or when I switch to a newer kernel.

I guess he means the minor service releases of the kernel.
You can remove older kernels manually in muon or synaptic if the newest kernel is working fine for you
