(SOLVED) YEAH Gimp help opens Okular

Hello
First up thanks for providing Netrunner Rolling and NR is a strong distro but you know that already,
I’ve been able to sort out and get all the packages I needed language packs and gimp plug-ins etc but there is one thing I cannot seem to fix when in gimp clicking F1 and shift F1 or top menu help items I get okular opening instead of firefox
checked up on all the properties boxes and setting I could think of - seems ok ?
when okular opens it’s with blank pages or code of some form not the help manual

What have I missed

Thanks in advance

That is strange.
On my personal system It’s opening in Falcon even though Plasma has firefox set as default.

Maybe it’s the gtk setting?

Hmm, HandBrake is doing the same things.

Yeah strange alright my default apps setting page same as yours ,
which gtk setting are you taking about ? ,
Thanks for the fast reply

Sorry for my ignorance But what is HandBrake

That’s what I’m trying to figure out.
I did rule out that it’s not xdg:

$ xdg-settings get default-web-browser
firefox.desktop

Have you checked your ~/.config/mimeapps.list?
Mine was fine though, everything there the appropriate mime types are set to Firefox.

It’s the same results here

[fa@fa-pc ~]$ sudo ~/.config/mimeapps.list
[sudo] password for fa:
sudo: /home/fa/.config/mimeapps.list: command not found
[fa@fa-pc ~]$

That my results

~/.config/mimeapps.list is a file not an applications.
It’s in the hidden folder .config in your home directory.
You can open it with kate, no need for sudo.

I’m not sure what I should be looking for
can I post the mimeapps.list its small ?

Yes you may, just be sure use a code box (aka preformatted text) to copy and paste it.

BTW, you have to indent preformatted text by 4 spaces for every line…

Sorry I thought I did ,
Those removed sections is not something I did … knowingly
That’s why I got you to look at the file
How and why that is I dont know , not much help I am

That’s OK. I should be in bed asleep.
Especially with all these meds the doctor has me on right now.

Tell you what Leave this for another day ,go get some rest, and this can wait , youre health is more important than a gimp help file ,OK see ya ,go get some rest !

That’s the thing, I should be tired, but I’m not and can’t fall asleep.
Trust me, I’ve tried. I was already in bed with absolute darkness, and no noise whatsoever for 4 hours.

Ooh I know this one - go in and rest - eyes closed and stay there for an hour - sometimes I need to do that cos my meds get changed a lot and I get that effect , I have a lot of health problems , Go on just rest , lets the body catch up seriously it does world of good .
ps. you will heal up better that way

I don’t remember where I got this but it’s awesome

Nice, I like it.

OK, double clicking on htm, html, etc. does indeed open in Firefox.
So, this makes it a gnome (gio) issue.
Run gio mime text/html.
I got the following:

Default application for “text/html”: org.kde.falkon.desktop
Registered applications:
	org.kde.falkon.desktop
	libreoffice-writer.desktop
	org.kde.kate.desktop
	okularApplication_txt.desktop
Recommended applications:
	org.kde.falkon.desktop

This must be a bug because according to the following ~/.config/mimetypes.list should take precedence.
https://help.gnome.org/admin/system-admin-guide/stable/mime-types-application.html.en
